The Healing of a Spacious View

What if we could see this time on our planet as a break through time rather than a break down time?  It certainly looks like so many things are in chaos and there is a threat of it all blowing up.

But what would happen if you understood that everything human beings have done up to this point has prepared us for this time? We have explored the depth and breadth of this beautiful planet all the way from the freezing cold of the Antarctic to the blazing heat of the Gobi Desert.  We have gone from the heights of mountains to the depths of the oceans and we have explored every nook and cranny in the human body.  We have also gone into the world of the mind and the ever-changing ocean of the human psyche.

We are now able to unearth information from billions of years ago, to enter the heart of the atom, to travel through radio telescopes to the beginning of time, and to be able to grasp that we are one planet, revolving around one star situated in one arm of a small spiral galaxy which is dancing with billions of other galaxies.  And we only discovered galaxies 100 years ago!

We also now understand that without life’s miraculous ability to create the rare gift of water, animated expressions of life could not exist.  Without the evolutionary process discovering how to digest sunlight through the exquisite creation of the chlorophyll molecule, plants would not exist.  Without the first plants following the call to explore land, we would not exist.  Without those first multi-cell beings who figured out how all their parts could communicate with one another, the nervous system would not have been born, along with your ability to hold and comprehend what y0u are reading right now.  Without those first cells that painstakingly figured out how to differentiate between dark and light, you would not be able to see this blog.

What I am offering here is an invitation to open your perception, inviting you into a more spacious view that can recognize the sacredness of absolutely every expression of Life and the inter-connectedness of everything.  You, your friends and family are not isolated, separated beings who have randomly shown up on an already completed planet.  You have each arisen out of the unfolding of life itself and the threads of your lives are intimately interwoven throughout all time and space.

One of the astounding gifts of spaciousness is the realization that everything needs everything to exist, so we are all kin.  We are joined at the very core of our being with everything in the Universe.  The chlorophyll molecule that makes up plants is identical to the molecule that makes up our red blood cells, except that in our cells, the magnesium atom is replaced by iron.

To be lifted out of our very narrow self-absorption and be inspired by the mystery that we are a part of is to also realize that we are the Earth.  We may not have roots like trees nor the ability of mountains to rise from the heart of the land, but we are the Earth nonetheless.  The same atoms that make up our bodies were once a part of the cooling planet Earth, were on hand when Life made the atmosphere and were a part of the seething creativity of the primal seas.

The strength of the minerals in our teeth once helped to create huge granite slabs in pristine mountain ranges.  The air that is moving through us has molecules that once moved through the breath of every living species that has ever been.  Human beings are not necessarily the pinnacle of evolution or the “end all-be all” of Life.  We could simply be described as matter grown curious, a conglomeration of star stuff that carries the ability to explore Life.

As you become unlocked from your narrow perception of life, it can begin to press in upon your awareness that life knows what it is doing in this time of chaos.  I invite you to allow yourself to have moments in which you consider the possibility that whatever has created everything you see from stardust, and whatever it is that has created the DNA molecule, knows what it is doing.  Your job is to unhook as much as possible from anger and fear about what is happening or what may happen, and instead be present for the amazing mystery that is always here…no matter what is happening in your life. For this moment is no ordinary moment.  It is the only moment that matters in your life.   And every moment you let go of your stories about life and are fully here for this never to be repeated instant is a moment of healing on our planet.

  2. Thank you, Mary! Yes, and this is when and where Grace appears and guides us down the river of our knowing and our unknowing. Godspeed always!
